Cj. Perez et al., TUBERCULOUS PERITONITIS - VALUE OF CA-125 TO MONITOR RESPONSE TO TREATMENT, Revista espanola de enfermedades digestivas, 90(8), 1998, pp. 592-593
A case of a 32 years old woman with fever and exudative ascites is des
cribed. Tuberculous peritonitis was confirmed by abdominal laparoscopy
, peritoneal biopsy and Lowenstein culture. A serum CA 125 level was 8
61 U/ml before therapy. The CA 125 level decreased a 30% after three w
eeks of antituberculous treatment. This tumor marker may be used to fo
llow disease activity in tuberculous ascites.
