Rm. Braun et al., PERFORMANCE-CHARACTERISTICS OF A CHEMICAL IMAGING TIME-OF-FLIGHT MASS-SPECTROMETER, Rapid communications in mass spectrometry, 12(18), 1998, pp. 1246
A chemical imaging time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometer is d
escribed. It consists of a liquid metal ion gun, medium energy resolut
ion reflectron mass analyzer, liquid nitrogen cooled sample stage, pre
paration chamber and dual stage entry port. Unique features include co
mpatibility with laser postionization experiments, large field of view
, cryogenic sample handling capability and high incident ion beam curr
ent. Instrument performance is illustrated by the characterization of
scanning electron microscopy grids, silver and functionalized polystyr
ene beads and the postionization of an organic overlayer on a gold sub
strate, (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
