FUSED AZOLIUM SALTS XVIII - SYNTHESIS AND REACTIVITY OF A NOVEL FUSEDHETEROAROMATIC SYSTEM - [1,2,3]TRIAZOLO[L,5-B]ISOQUINOLINIUM SALTS

Oxidative cyclization of 3-isoquinolyl ketone hydrazones afforded the novel tricyclic heteroaromatic [1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-b]isoquinolinium sa lts. The reactivity of the ring system towards nucleophiles proved to be regioselective. Secondary amines induced ring opening of the pyridi ne moiety, forming a triazolyl substituted benzaldehyde derivative; so dium borohydride afforded partially reduced derivatives of the parent compound.
