Abstract
In this article we prove an analytic inequality which has important ap plications to the estimation for the moments of guessing mappings whic h were recently introduced in the literature by J. L. Massey [''IEEE I nternational Symposium on Information Theory, 1994,'' Trondheim, Norwa y, p. 204] and E. Arikan [IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory 42 (1996), 99-105 ]. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
