Abstract
Lemma 4.1 in [Comm. Math. Phys. 91 (1983)] by Ron Diperna pertaining t o the vacuum case for an existence proof of polytropic gas dynamics us ing compensated compactness is incomplete as given. Here we give a qui ck fix of the lemma plus some generalization. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
