Em. Messmer et al., LEPROMATOUS UVEITIS DIAGNOSED BY IRIS BIOPSY, Graefe's archive for clinical and experimental ophthalmology, 236(9), 1998, pp. 717-719
Ocular leprosy is rarely seen in developed countries. We report the lo
ng-term follow-up of a patient with bilateral uveitis, glaucoma, and k
eratitis. Skin, iris and aqueous humor biopsies disclosed abundant Wad
e-Fite-positive organisms consistent with Mycobacterium leprae. Lepros
y must be considered in the differential diagnosis of keratitis and uv
eitis.
