Ew. Gerharz et Crj. Woodhouse, THE TRANSVERSE ILEAL TUBE AS 2ND-LINE MODIFICATION OF THE MITROFANOFFPRINCIPLE, World journal of urology, 16(4), 1998, pp. 231-234
With the advantages of constant availability, minimal loss of bowel, r
elative simplicity (no mesentery interfering with implantation, high m
obility of the tube), minimized risk of stone formation (no use of sta
ples), reliable continence (no leak point) and easy catheterization (l
ongitudinal folds), this straightforward technique is an excellent sec
ond choice for the Mitrofanoff conduit. A longer period of follow-up i
s needed to determine whether it deserves a permanent place in the rec
onstructive surgeons' repertoire.
