Abstract
Biochemical markers of myocardial injury have evolved so that the diag nosis or exclusion of acute myocardial infarction can be determined wi thin a short time with a high degree of sensitivity and specificity. T he use of these markers in patients complaining of chest pain allows f or medically appropriate and cost-effective triage decision making in the emergency department.
