Although primarily applied to ma lignant disease, it is also used in the evaluation of benign condition s. Improvements in imaging techniques and advances in cytologic interp retations, as well as production of new biopsy needles, have all contr ibuted to the rapid increase in radiologically guided liver FNAB.
