The therapy, care, and even permanent care of the elderly patient suff
ering from incontinence involves more than surgical treatment, physiot
herapy, and/or drug therapy. Management of the incontinent patient is
considered an interdisciplinary task. Al the center of our attention i
s the patient, who has to be informed, motivated, advised, activated,
and therapeutically cared for. Equal importance is attached to the phy
sician's care, physiotherapeutic means, nursing care, and application
of incontinence devices as well as the training of the patient, their
relatives, and the nursing attendants. The subject's care, the devices
, and the training of patients, attendants, and relatives are given sp
ecial attention during the discussion of our working group session. Me
dical activities and physiotherapeutic means are taken care of by othe
r project groups.
