Abstract
Since the colonic J-pouch with a cole-anal anastomosis was first intro duced in 1986, many reports have shown the superiority of this design as compared to a ''straight'' cole-anal anastomosis. These advantages have been demonstrated in retrospective, prospective, and prospectivel y randomized reports.
