Abstract
2,5-Dihydrosybenzoquinones, when heated in water, react to form differ ent types of compounds through dimerization. The features of this uniq ue reaction were clarified using a model compound, 2,5-dihydroxy-3-met hylbenzoquinoue, The structures of the products were established by X- ray analysis and spectroscopic means.
