Abstract
The author describes the method of diagnosis to be used by the veterin ary surgeon when faced with an infecund female dog which has normal cy cles. He goes on to present all the possible causes of this infecundit y: unsuccesful mating and unsuccesful mating after a normal, or a shor ter or a longer cycle. In all cases a study of the case history and a careful and complete clinical examination, will allow the choice, if n ecessary, of the complementary examinations needed. This logical metho d is the only one which, in nearly all cases, results in a diagnosis a nd a prognosis concerning the reproductive future of the female and in provides advice on the action to take when faced with dog infertility .
