Abstract
Adsorption of neopentane on faujasite, mordenite and ZSM-5 zeolites ha s been investigated by UV-VIS spectroscopy. At room temperature, UV-VI S active surface species were detected and assigned to alkenyl-type ca rbenium ions. Their formation was shown to be influenced by the overal l acidity, the ratio of Bronsted to Lewis acidity and the zeolite stru cture.
