Several problems are noted with Lawrence, Roe, Sc Williams' (1997) con
firmatory factor analyses of Tobacyk's (1988) Revised Paranormal Belie
f Scale. The most serious problem is the misattribution of the Big Ort
hogonal Seven model of paranormal belief to Tobacyk and Milford. Becau
se Tobacyk and Milford never proposed an Orthogonal Seven model of par
anormal belief, Lawrence et al.'s analyses and conclusions are largely
specious. A mixed model of paranormal belief, including both orthogon
al and oblique interfactor relationships, appears most valid.
