S. Uto et al., CIRCULAR TEXTURES INDUCED BY ALTERNATING ELECTRIC-FIELD IN FREELY SUSPENDED FERROELECTRIC LIQUID-CRYSTAL FILMS, Ferroelectrics (Print), 214(1-2), 1998, pp. 717-724
Characteristic circular textures induced by alternating electric field
have been observed in a freely suspended ferroelectric liquid crystal
film using a polarizing microscope. There are two types of the circul
ar textures, that is, a coaxial texture and a scroll texture. Formatio
n process of both types of the textures is explained. In addition, a t
wofold and a fourfold scroll textures are observed.
