Abstract
Essential difficulties caused by the nonvanishing boundary condition g reatly hinder the development of the systematic perturbation theory fo r dark solitons. Recently a direct perturbation method for dark one-so liton is developed by the authors with rigorous proof of the completen ess of squared Jost solutions. In this letter, influence of the self-s teepening term is discussed analytically with the method.
