Abstract
Ultrasonic velocity and absorption coefficient at 21 MHz as well as sh ear viscosity, were measured in an aqueous solution of silicon dioxide over the temperature range of 5-85 degrees C, and the concentration r ange of 20 to 40% by weight. The absorption coefficient exhibits maxim um values at about 25 degrees C. The velocity exhibits a maximum value at approximately 64, 66, 68 degrees C in 40, 30 and 20% concentration solutions, respectively. The ultrasonic velocity and absorption incre ase with concentration at a given temperature. The shear viscosity val ues increase with concentration and decrease with temperature for a gi ven concentration.
