Abstract
The structure of piezoelectric transformers were studied to enlarge th e output power capacity. The power parameter mA(2)(2) was proposed to predict the performance of the high-power piezoelectric transformers. In a former report, we proposed a new-structure piezoelectric transfor mer named alternately poled piezoelectric transformer (APT). Its step- up ratio was twice as large as that of the Rosen type transformer, in spite of the single layer structure. In this study, the APT with 1.5 w avelength resonant mode was modified to increase the output power capa city and the multilayer structure was utilized to enlarge the step-up ratio. As a result, both a high step-up ratio of 23 and the output pow er capacity of 7.1 W were accomplished under a load of 100 k Omega.
