Chromatographic behaviour of d-block metal ions on stannic phosphate s
ilicate layers in buffered EDTA media at different pH values has been
studied. The effect of pH of the media on R-f values of metal ions has
been discussed. The migration of ions has been explained in terms of
adsorption, ion exchange and precipitation. On the basis of differenti
al migration of cations some binary and ternary separations have been
achieved. Stannic phosphate silicate exhibits higher selectivity for T
i-IV, Mo-VI, Zr-IV and W-VI. Quantitative separation of Zr-IV from bin
ary and multi-ion synthetic mixtures containing larger amounts of othe
r metal ions has been carried out.
