Abstract
Reactions of bromoacetophenones (2) with o-acyl/aroylbenzoic acids (1, 4) yielded the products 4-alkyl-3-aroylbenzopyran-1H-1-ones (3) and 3- arylbenzofuran-1H-1-ones (6). The high product selectivity is observed depending upon the nature of the substrate taken.
