Abstract
Free aqueous bilirubin is photodegraded very fast by visible light, ev en at the low intensity 0.06 W cm(-2). Both human and bovine serum alb umins effectively protect this photodegradation of bilirubin; human se rum albumin being marginally more efficient. Spectral analysis of the dialysate of albumin-bilirubin complex, exposed to visible light, indi cates the presence of intact bilirubin along with the photodegraded pr oducts.
