Abstract
The authors experimentally demonstrate, in a fibre-loop setup, 10Gbit/ s return-to-zero propagation at 1.3 mu m over more than 1500km in a st andard fibre using an optimised in-line semiconductor optical amplifie r. System margins have been determined.
