Abstract
The authors propose a simple optical gate that uses an electroabsorpti on modulator driven by a high-speed and high-saturation output photodi ode. The photodiode generates a 10GHz short electrical pulse larger th an 2Vpp and directly drives the modulator. The optical gate demonstrat es a 40Gbit/s 4:1 demultiplexing operation.
