J. Bordes et al., CKM MATRIX AND FERMION MASSES IN THE DUALIZED STANDARD MODEL - ART. NO. 013004, Physical review. D. Particles and fields, 5801(1), 1998, pp. 3004
A dualized standard model recently proposed affords a natural explanat
ion for the existence of Higgs fields and of exactly 3 generations of
fermions, while giving at the same time the observed fermion mass hier
archy together with a tree-level CKM matrix equal to the identity matr
ix. It further suggests a method for generating from loop corrections
the lower generation masses and nondiagonal CKM matrix elements. In th
is paper, the proposed calculation is carried out to 1-loop. It is foun
d first that with the method suggested one can account readily for the
masses of the second generation fermions as ''leakage'' from the high
est generation. Then, with the Yukawa couplings fixed by fitting the m
asses of the 2 higher generations, one is left with only 2 free parame
ters to evaluate the CKM matrix and the masses in the lowest generatio
n. One obtains a very good fit to the CKM matrix and sensible values f
or the masses of d and e, though, for a valid reason, not of u. In add
ition, the fitted values of the Yukawa couplings and vacuum expectatio
n values of the dual color Higgs fields show remarkable features perha
ps indicative of a deeper significance. [S0556-2821(98)00713-9].
