Abstract
Solid stale dye doped polymer is an attractive alternative to the conv entional liquid dye solution, The laser characteristic of rhodamine 6G doped polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) rods modified with ethyl alcohol (EtOH) have been studied. The synthesised polymer rod was pumped by n itrogen laser (337.1 nm) in a transverse pumping configuration and the wavelength of the dye laser emission was found to be 570 nm. The vari ation of gain of the medium for different pumping powers was studied b y pumping the polymer rod in transverse configuration using second har monic of the Nd:YAG laser (532 nm). The photobleaching of the dye dope d polymer was studied by measuring the number of pumping pulses after which the output decreased by 20% of the initial value.
