Vi. Kozub et Aa. Krokhin, CLASSICAL MESOSCOPIC CONDUCTANCE FLUCTUATIONS IN SYSTEMS WITH BOUNDARY SCATTERING, Journal of physics. Condensed matter, 5(49), 1993, pp. 9135-9144
Mesoscopic conductance fluctuations in a 2D electron channel due to co
rrelations between classical boundary scattering processes are discuss
ed. The contribution to conductance provided by the correlations is ca
lculated and analysed; it is a consequence of the inherent roughness o
f the boundary. As a result stochastic oscillations for a weak magneti
c field are exhibited. In the absence of bulk scattering the stochasti
c behaviour has a fractal structure, the fractal dimension being 1.5.
It is shown that at higher temperatures classical mesoscopic fluctuati
ons, discussed here, dominate over the universal conductance fluctuati
ons. Unlike the universal conductance fluctuations, these classical on
es are non-universal and reveal a dependence upon the geometry of a sa
mple. Such non-universal behaviour of the classical conductance fluctu
ations is consistent with recent experimental data observed for ballis
tic conductors.
