Abstract
Ascorbate reacts with S-nitrosothiols at pH 7.4 via two pathways, in w hich ascorbate (at low concentration) acts as a reducing agent generat ing Cu-I, and (at high concentration) acts as a nucleophile, attacking the nitroso group.
