Abstract
We discuss the local Cauchy problem for the generalised Kadomtsev-Petv iashvili equation, namely (partial derivative(t)u - iP(D)u + a(u) part ial derivative(x)u)(x) + gamma partial derivative(gamma)(2)u = 0, in t he periodic and nonperiodic settings.
