THE HIGH-PRESSURE ULTRAMAFIC-MAFIC-CARBONATE SUITE OF CIMA-LUNGA-ADULA, CENTRAL ALPS - EXCURSIONS TO CIMA-DI-GAGNONE AND ALPE-ARAMI

Several prominent outcrops of high-pressure rocks in the Cima Lunga (A dula) nappe are described. They comprise garnet lherzolites with poiki loblastic texture at Cima di Gagnone and with porphyroclastic texture at Alpe Arami. Accompagnying metarodingites, eclogites and meta-ophica rbonate rocks at Cima di Gagnone reveal the high-pressure suite as for mer association along a rifted oceanic margin. Comparison of observed features at Ape Arami and Cima di Gagnone makes an ultra-high-pressure origin of the former unlikely.
