NOVEL BRIDGEHEAD NITROGEN HETEROCYCLIC-SYSTEMS - SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF IMIDAZO[1,2-D]-S-TRIAZOLO [3,4-B][1,3,4]THIADIAZOLES

A facile synthesis of imidazo[1,2-d]-s-triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazo le 3 has been achieved by the condensation of 4-amino-3-ethyl-5-mercap to-s-triazole 1 with cyanogen bromide to yield -amino-3-ethyl-s-triazo lo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole 2 followed by treatment with alpha-haloket ones. The structures 3 are supported by IR and H-1 NMR spectral data. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of the system have also be en evaluated.
