Since the end of 1996 a new clinical syndrome has broken out in French
intensive enclosed rabbitries. This disease firstly named Enterocolit
is is now called Rabbit Epizootic Enterocolitis (R. E. E.). The diseas
e is spreading throughout many areas in France; there could be some sp
oradical cases in Belgium too. Dietary and toxicological origins are d
iscarded. Trials carried on to reproduce the disease suggest an infect
ious origin. Some improvements are obtained by the use of antibiotics
such as tiamulin, neomycin, colistin, apramycin and bacitracin.
