Abstract
The elastic, inelastic and 'reactive' collisions of positrons with ato mic targets over a broad range of collision energies (across the posit ronium (Ps) formation threshold) require, in order to be realistically described by parameter-free computations, the knowledge of the full i nteraction and couplings between many channels. A model potential whic h can be constructed in either real (effective) or complex (optical) f orm is briefly described and successfully employed to yield elastic an d inelastic partial cross sections, integral and differential, for ato mic targets both neutral and ionic.
