Bm. Ginzburg et Aa. Shepelevskii, FEATURES OF PHASE-TRANSITIONS IN VARIOUS REGIONS OF PHASE-DIAGRAM OF THE POLY(GAMMA-BENZYL-L-GLUTAMATE)-DIMETHYLFORMAMIDE SYSTEM, Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 40(7), 1998, pp. 1131-1143
he features of phase transitions in the poly(gamma-benzyl-L-glutamate)
-dimethylformamide system are considered in the entire range of concen
trations, with a special attention to the transitions involving the me
lting or formation of gels having crystallosolvate junctions. Some fea
tures of the phase diagrams observed in the region of low polymer conc
entrations are explained on the basis of analysis of the crystallosolv
ate-liquid crystal (CS-LC) and CS-isotropic solution liquidus curves.
A structure-related interpretation of the features of phase transition
s in the region of high polymer concentrations is proposed proceeding
from the notion of various structural defects in crystallosolvates and
of the ''limiting'' liquid-crystalline phase. This approach also qual
itatively explains the experimental data obtained by the method of dif
ferential scanning calorimetry.
