G. Inoue et N. Maeda, COMPLICATIONS IN WRAP-AROUND-FLAP DONOR SITES AFTER RECONSTRUCTION USING AN ARTERIALIZED VENOUS FLAP, Journal of reconstructive microsurgery, 14(6), 1998, pp. 377-380
The authors have previously reported on the use of the arterialized ve
nous flap to cover skin defects of the big toe resulting from wrap-aro
und-flap transfers. Nineteen patients who had undergone this procedure
were reviewed, to determine the incidence of donor-site complications
. Problems identified included delayed wound healing, skin erosion, pa
inful callosity, paresthesia, cold intolerance, and cosmetic appearanc
e. However, the functional deficit was not great, and most patients we
re not troubled by their symptoms. The cosmetic appearance of the dono
r foot was acceptable in most of the patients.
