Abstract
Ferrocenyl bimetallic compounds of the form [CpFeC5H4-CH=CH-py-M(CO)(n )] (M(CO)(n)=Mn(CO)(5)(+) (4), Re(CO)(5)(+) (5), W(CO)(5) (6), Cr(CO)( 5) (7), and Fe(CO)(4) (8)) have been synthesized by the ligation of th e dangling pyridine to the metal carbonyl fragments, and their quadrat ic hyperpolarizabilities were determined using the hyper-Rayleigh scat tering method. Manganese and rhenium carbonyl compounds showed conside rable solvatochromism and have high hyperpolarizabilities. (C) 1998 El sevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
