Chemical oscillations have been studied both visually and potentiometr
ically with gallic acid as substrate in a new acid medium, i.e., HNO3
medium with ferroin as catalyst. The oscillations are very much pronou
nced. Studies have also been made in H3PO4 medium using Mn(II) ions as
catalyst which is also a new combination. The oscillation parameters
have been found to obey certain simple relations. A comparison has als
o been made with previous studies in H2SO4 and HClO4 media.
