Abstract
The adsorption behaviour of some styryl pyridinium dyes on alkali trea ted silica (alkali-silica) has been investigated, The surface area of alkali-silica is found to be more than the untreated silica. The adsor ption isotherm and adsorption kinetics have been discussed in the ligh t of molecular behaviour of the adsorbate. A cooperative adsorption of the dye on the alkali-silica surface has been observed. Hemimicelliza tion has been proposed during the adsorption of the dyes.
