A REVIEW OF THE AFROTROPICAL AND PALEARCTIC GENERA OF LOMATIINAE (DIPTERA, BOMBYLIIDAE)

The history of the genus Lomatia Meigen is reviewed in relation to the status of the Afrotropical species. A phylogenetic analysis of the Af rotropical and Palaearctic genera of Lomatiinae demonstrates that the Afrotropical species of Lomatia should be transferred to a new genus, Notolomatia gen. n. A key is given to these genera along with notes in cluding short diagnoses, distribution and species contained in them. T he synonymy of L. graeca Paramonov with L. lachesis is established. Th e zoogeography of the Lomatiinae is discussed in relation to the origi n of the Palaearctic genera.
