Abstract
Soil samples were collected from five localities in Jizan city, Saudi Arabia, and analysed for metals and fungal flora. Soil type is sandy a nd alkaline; it contains low percentage of total organic matter and hi gh percentaje of total soluble salts. Soil samples contain high concen trations of lead and copper followed by nicker, manganese and cadmium. Seventeen species belonging to eight genera of fungi were isolated: A spergillus (4 species), Fusarium and Penicillium (3 species), Alternar ia and Cladosporium (2 species), Curvularia, Mucor and Nigrospora (1 s pecies).
