As. Collins et Ahf. Robertson, PROCESSES OF LATE CRETACEOUS TO LATE MIOCENE EPISODIC THRUST-SHEET TRANSLATION IN THE LYCIAN TAURIDES, SW TURKEY, Journal of the Geological Society, 155, 1998, pp. 759-772
The Lycian Taurides of SW Turkey consist of an allochthonous Mesozoic
passive margin succession that was episodically detached from its auto
chthon and translated southeastwards between latest Cretaceous to Late
Miocene times. A combination of structural analysis, sedimentology, p
alaeontology and geochemistry allows subdivision of this orogenic even
t into: (1) latest Cretaceous trench-passive margin collision causing
ophiolite obduction and detachment of the Koycegiz Thrust Sheet; (2) M
id-Late Eocene continent-continent collision renewing southeastwards t
hrusting and causing detachment of the Teke Dere Thrust Sheet and Yavu
s Thrust Sheets; (3) Miocene extensional collapse of the orogen with s
outheastwards translation of the allochthon coeval with rift-basin for
mation in the hinterland.
