Hf. Brito et al., LUMINESCENCE BEHAVIOR OF EU3+ WITH THENOYLTRIFLUOROACETONATE, SULFOXIDES AND MACROCYCLICS, Journal of alloys and compounds, 277, 1998, pp. 254-257
In this work we present a study of the luminescence intensity of Eu(TT
A)(3). xL, where TTA=thenoyltrifluoroacetonate (L denotes DBSO and PTS
O sulfoxides, and derivatives of 15C5 and 18C6 macrocyclics). The comp
lexes with 15-crown-5 ether ligand contain two H2O molecules. The comp
lexes were characterized by a microanalytical procedure, IR spectrosco
py and molar conductance. They show high luminescence mainly in the re
d region. The characteristic emission spectra of Eu3+ in these compoun
ds show uncommonly high values of the Ohm(2) intensity parameters, ref
lecting the hypersensitive behavior of the D-5(0)-->F-7(2) transition
and indicating that the rare earth ion is in a highly polarizable chem
ical environment. The D-5(0)-->F-7(0) transition splitting, in the cas
e of Eu(TTA)(3). 18C6, indicates more than one site of symmetry occupi
ed by Eu3+. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
