Abstract
The new ligand, 3-amino-2-carboxypyridine-N-oxide 4 has been synthesiz ed as a potential precursor to highly efficient light conversion molec ular devices. The synthesis, characterization and some properties of a complex of this ligand, tris(3-aminopyridine-2-carboxylato-N-oxide)tr iaqua europium(III), are described. The complex exhibits a remarkably strong luminescence and a long decay lifetime (615 mu s) (C) 1998 Else vier Science S.A.
