Abstract
Binuclear copper(I) complex [Cu-2(dppm)(2)(Py)(2) (NO3)] (NO3) . CH3OH (2), Py = pyridine, dppm = bi (diphenylphosphine) methane has been syn thesized by ligand reduction of cupric nitrate with dppm and character ized by means of specific elemental analyses, molecular weight determi nation, P-31 NMR and electronic conductivity measurement. The X-ray cr ystal structure of complex (2) shows that dppm coordinates as a bridgi ng bidentate ligand to the two Cu(I) atoms, and two NOB behave as a bi dentate ligand and an outer sphere respectively in the newly prepared binuclear copper( I) complex. The crystal is monoclinic, space group P 2(1) with unit cell parameters a = 1.365 0(4) nm, c = 1.365 3(2) nm, b = 1.597 0(7) nm; beta = 105. 4 (2)degrees, Z = 2, V = 2. 868 9 nm(3), F(000) = 1 252, D-c = 1. 373 g. cm(-3), mu = 9.0 cm(-1), R = 0. 026, R-w = 0. 028.
