A new chemometric approach, annihilation of rank and resolution by pro
jection (AR-RP) has been developed in this paper. The chromatographic
peaks can be directly qualified and quantified without resolution of t
he other chromatographic peaks. The approach has been successfully app
lied to the qualitative and quantitative analysis of complex real mult
icomponent system with PAHs phenanthrene, anthracene, fluoranthene and
pyrene as desired components in air-borne paritculate.
