Abstract
The excitation energy dependence of the three-hole satellites in the L -3-M45M45 and L-2-M45M45 Anger spectra of nickel metal has been measur ed using synchrotron radiation. The satellite behavior in the nonradia tive emission spectra at the L-3 and L-2 thresholds is compared and th e influence of the Coster-Kronig channel explored. The three-hole sate llite intensity at the L-3 Anger emission line reveals a peak structur e at 5 eV above the L-3 threshold attributed to resonant processes at the 2p(5)3d(9) shake-up threshold. This is discussed in connection wit h the 6-eV feature in the x-ray-absorption spectrum.
