We describe a method for fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) on p
reviously G-banded slides and mounted coverslip preparations. The tech
nique is successful on previously G-banded slides from peripheral bloo
d and bone marrow specimens and on amniotic fluid samples from in situ
harvests. Satellite sequence probes, whole chromosome paints, and uni
que sequence probes have all produced reliable results, (C) 1998 Wiley
