In this article, all of the known superconducting systems are surveyed
, and the structural conditions required for high-temperature supercon
ductivity in the cuprate system are reviewed. This article does not fo
cus on the details of the individual crystal structures of the known s
uperconducting cuprates, but on the commonalties among all the differe
nt structures to understand the structural requirements for supercondu
ctivity in these ceramic materials.
