Methacrylonitrile (MAN) has been graft copolymerized individually and
as a binary mixture with methyl acrylate (MA) onto gelatin by a simult
aneous irradiation method. Percentage grafting has been studied as a f
unction of total radiation dose, monomer concentration, amount of wate
r and water-methanol system. It was found that addition of MA increase
d the grafting efficiency of MAN. A plausible explanation has been sug
gested to account for the trends in the results (C) 1998 SCI.
