Abstract
A number of the new chiral side-chain menthyl containing copolymers we re synthesized. Phase behavior, optical properties, and structures of the synthesized copolymers with different compositions were studied. F or the first time a specific mesophase induction in side-chain copolym ers, containing nonmesomorphous side groups, was proved to be possible due to the steric correspondence between different side units.
